WHAT IS OUR FEE?
All United Planet Tanzania programs are designed to be immersive, authentic and comprehensive and to provide you with everything you will need to succeed. Our goal is to grant a positive and safe experience for all volunteers; this is why we guarantee constant support from our team and from your host family.

- ALL PROGRAMS include airport pick up and drop off, two nights in a hotel in Dar Es Salaam on arrival, two days orientation, Swahili language class, placement in a host family (including three meals a day), in-country transport, UPTZ support before and during your stay and a project contribution.
- The VOLUNTEER & TRAVEL PROGRAM additionally includes a unique and personalised travel experience suited to your budget, organised by us.
You can decide to combine multiple itineraries and the price will depend on the type of accommodation chosen - budget, mid-range or luxury - and the number of people travelling.
- Volunteers are responsible for covering the payment of their flight, travel insurance and visa.
- We also organize a number of EXTRA ACTIVITIES such as cooking class, tour of Dar Es Salaam, a day in Mikadi Beach and a weekend in Morogoro, Bagamoyo or Dar Es Salaam. For an additional fee, one or more of these can be added on top of your selected program.
WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO?
As a non-profit organization, United Planet Tanzania aims to keep costs down in order to make it easier for volunteers to join our programs. We include in our fee everything you will need in order to have an authentic, immersive and safe experience.
Here is a breakdown of how the money you pay for your volunteer or internship program is spent:
We pay a weekly salary to the host family you will be living with. The family will provide you shelter and 3 meals a day.
This includes airport pickup and drop-off as well as transfers to and from the project. This does not include any transport you will need during your free time.
The salaries that our employees receive ensure that we can provide high quality personal assistance prior to the volunteers' arrivals and 24/7 support once they are in the country.
All of our partner projects are completely independent non-profit organizations, which don’t have a reliable source of funding and often have extremely limited infrastructures. We include a contribution to the placement chosen by the volunteer, which can help it to continue growing and developing.
Arrival and orientation
In order for you to adjust to the new environment, you will spend the first two nights at a hotel near our office. During the first week of your arrival, you will receive two days of orientation, where you will be given information on the country habits and rules and a basic Swahili language course, including a grammar book. You will also be taken to exchange your money and buy a Tanzanian phone SIM card. Meals during these two days are included in the price.
